Ky Miller (they/them) is a political ecologist, journalist and first year Sociocultural Anthropology PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania.
Ky’s transdisciplinary ethnographic research engages Latin American Indigenous territorial defense movements to examine how actors organizing in resistance to extractive megaprojects reconfigure spatial and racial relations.
Prior to beginning their PhD at UPenn, Ky completed a Master of Environmental Science at the Yale School of the Environment, as well as a B.A. in Anthropology and Environmental Studies at New College of Florida.
Ky has completed research on behalf of and in collaboration with a wide range of academic, nonprofit, and grassroots entities working at the intersection of human rights and climate justice, including the Yale Center for Environmental Justice, the University Network for Human Rights, Cultural Survival, WE ACT for Environmental Justice, the Erika Díaz-Almeyda Lab, and the Assembly of Defenders of the Maya Territory Múuch’ Xíinbal.
